about

This opening track is the first of 3 that come from show session #206, recorded at Club Mesa, Costa Mesa, CA., December 8, 1999

At this time Lob was hosting a regular weekly poetry reading at this bar location on Wednesday nights and every so often Instagon would play before or after the event (or both). This session happened at a reading that featured Japanese slam poet Kei Kunihiro, and so paying homage to the Japanese movie monsters, this opening improvisational track was called "Gamera".

This recording is the ONLY time this song has been played by Instagon.

The lineup for the band grew as the night went on, but these recordings are from early in the show and only feature the trio of Lob, Dan Kaufman, and Chris Berolacqua. This trio, following this show, actually went on to become an Instagon offshoot project called "Thee Bellatrix Trio" , who played a couple more shows in the following year.
