about

Mark Soden of Phog Masheeen provided me with some beats to collab with.. and i slowed this one way down.. then added a couple simple keyboard tracks..and thought it still needed something else..so I found this reading from a few years ago and decided to see if it would work.. and behold!

lyrics

Once in a dream i met Jesus..
he was a nice enough fellow.
It was really odd .
he seemed to know who i was.
he kept asking me all these questions,
about my band.
he wanted to play with us really bad.
he said that he was a real fan,
and he had all of our releases,
and some bootlegs too..
i thought that THAT was really swell..
i mean to have someone who was so well known,
and him to be such a dedicated fan to MY BAND.
i asked Jesus what sort of instruments he's played...
he said he had a sampler..
and that he had some really funky sounds on it.
and i thought, " great.. Jesus has a sampler.
who would have thought that Jesus was a techno nerd?
who would believe me..??"
he went on to say how he could make the coolest sounds
turning wine back into water.. into a contact mic
and played thru a pitch-shifter.
And that also he had gotten St Peter to rattle the
the gates of heaven, and that he had sequenced the sound it made
to the beat of George Clinton's Atomic Dog..
and that his funk,
was the deepest the heavens had ever grooved to.
(bow wow wow yippie yo yippie yay..)
i asked Jesus if he ever just did anything spacey,
not so funky..??
and he said no, not yet, but that he really liked our style,
and was totally into trying it out.
so i thought.. this could be cool.. and told him okay
but that he would have to book the gig.
and then i woke up.. wondering if the phone was gonna ring..
