about

This is the 2nd cut from session #205, November 26, 1999 from The Hub, Fullerton, CA.

this track also appeared on the original cassette release of "SPACE 1999", but was removed when it was issued on CDR in 2001 due to time constraints.

The B-52's "Rock Lobster" has become a staple in the Garage Jazz antics of Instagon in this century. Its one of those songs that we have been doing for a long time, people that see us recognize it and call it out sometimes for us to play. It's cute that that happens.

THIS recording is the very first time that Instagon played this now classic tune. It was such a blast that we just simply never stopped. This song, and the way that it was done at this particular show was perhaps the final moment needed to push me to define what we do as Garage Jazz. This performance and the performances that followed it over the years, are how the concept of Garage Jazz was refined and discussed as a new direction and genre.

Robert Fisher and Mike Morris both really shine in this recording, as well as Cary Pealer trying to keep up with it.. great fun too.
